I admit...I really like the bumper sticker that reads "I do whatever my Rice Crispies tell me to do". If I'm honest with myself, which I'm finding I'm doing more and more with increasing regularity, I kinda do that too. I pay attention to whatever voice is right in front of me. Now I don't really do what it says to do, but I hear it and it finds a way inside me.
There are so many voices around us and whether we like it or not, we hear them and deep down inside they do something or get some kind of reaction...
They say "you're fat, you're good looking, you need more junk, be happy with what you have, be compassionate, be yourself, you're a looser without this car"....so with so many conflicting voices, which one is right?
Well there's point of contention...eh? I've been reading and running this week and between the pages and the gasps up iced-over trails I've heard a ton of voices....here's the winner
"Stop right where you are! Look for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls. Jeremiah 6:16
Naw, I wasn't praying for directions after getting lost on the trail. I've been putting myself in places and positions that will allow me to hear the True Voice as clearly as possible. The voice of God is as clear as it was before the first day came into being...it's our ears that have gotten clogged up. The Bible says that our ears are so clogged that it's like the hole in our skull is not even there. If we can't hear God, it's no wonder we can't hear anything else. So I'm getting as close as I can, and cleaning my ears so I can hear His voice and the cries of the people.
And perhaps if you care to join me, we can share a big 'ol bowl of Rice Crispies...or better yet, Cinnamon Toast Crunch and press deeply into the presence of Jesus. Luther did say sin boldly!

do you hear voices?
